When thinking about how to become a real vampire, most of you would think about the “embrace” that is oh-so-popular in mainstream media and in movies like Twilight. While this is a very romantic and seductive way of thinking about it, that’s not exactly what happens with the modern types of real vampires.
Most modern vampires share a common feeling that they’re not “normal” when they’re growing up, but they’re unsure as to why they feel this way. It’s only in the teenage years or in adult life that they experience what is called the “awakening”. It is then that they truely understand that they’re actually a vampire. During this “awakening” process, their perspective may shift dramatically and they’ll start to see the world in a whole new light. Some vampires will notice a hightened sense of smell or hearing. Some may have sensitivity to light and to other people’s emotional state. This doesn’t mean that the new vampire will burn to a crisp with exposure to the sun, or that they’ll be cast away with the strong smell of garlic.
So now that you know that people are generally born this way – feeling that they’re different- I have a secret to let you in on… To become a real vampire, you have to make a choice. You can go your entire life feeling like you don’t fit in anywhere, that’s cool. OR, you can share with others that you have a sensitivity to other people’s emotions and have a yearning to live the life of the dark, seductive, romantic vampire that you know you are. The difference between being a vampire and not, is the action that you take to become one. SO, now that you’ve learned this here are the next steps you’ll need to take if you’re serious about exploring vampirism:
- DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Start researching real life vampires by READING. Online, books, whatever. Knowledge is power.
- GET CONNECTED. Join online vampire communities (vampire chats or forums) and start talking with others who are already ‘out’. BE CAREFUL though, as there are online sexual predators that may try to take advantage of you. Most of these sites won’t let you join unless you’re 18, as some of the things that modern vampires do are adult in nature. The most common place that you’ll find vampires is within the Goth community. This is not always the case, but about 90% of the time, that’s where you can find them. Just to warn you before hand though, if you’re wanting to join a group in real life, you may have to proove yourself to the vampire clan you want to be a part of. They don’t always take to new people well. If you’re under 18 years old, please DO NOT attempt to try to contact any of these communities. There are legal issues involved with this and you could get not only yourself, but your parents into a big mess. Please read the disclaimer for more info. Some groups may be “occult” as well and do CRAZY things. If you don’t know what “occult” means, please look it up on Google. This site or the author of it is NOT responsible if something happens to you as a result of exploring or trying to contact someone within the vampire community.
- TAKE ACTION. Once you start talking with these people about what it is that they do behind closed doors, and if you’re interested, get involved. The best way to know for sure if something is for you is to try it out a couple of times. Since drinking blood, or sleeping in dark basements (yes some vampires today really do this), may seem a little bizarre, going to gatherings more than once is a great idea.
